Description:
Machu Picchu is an Inca sanctuary that has been found completely intact in the region of Cusco in the south of Peru. It is declared a UNESCO world heritage site. In this tapestry it is depicted with a native who is performing a San Pedro ritual. San Pedro or huachuma is a cactus which when taken gently opens the body and mind to release trauma. It usually works in three steps: realize, release and reset. It helps you realize how the way you look at things affected you negatively. Then there is a release in images and physical vomiting or crying. After that your mind is gently guiding itself to positive ways of looking at the world and the events that are happening on a daily basis. Machu Picchu is significant in the collective trauma of Peru as it is one of the few known sites that were spared the Spanish demolition and thus connects native Andeans with their origin.
